Denim = Indigo-coloured cotton twill fabric, with a natural blue pigment. Originally used by gold diggers as canvas for tents, a prospector had the idea of making pants out of the sturdy fabric. The newly created blue jeans were then adopted by workers during the time of the Industrial Revolution.
